Dedicated to producing uncompromised quality ales and lagers

                  Caldera Logo

Caldera Brewing Company is located in Ashland, Oregon and was founded in 1997 by Head Brewer, Jim Mills.  Caldera is a microbrewery which means no pub, restaurant, or tasting room.  Caldera uses only the finest ingredients available, including premium domestic as well as imported malted barley, fresh whole flower hops, and soft mountain water.  Caldera is the first craft brewery in Oregon to brew and can its own beer.

Why our beer costs what it does?

Our beer costs a bit more compared to other craft beers because we use imported malts and the freshest whole flower hops.

Reason #1

Since last year, our hop pricing went from $ 8.20/lb to $ 18.20/pound.  That is a $ 10/pound increase!  We use over 2 pounds of hops per barrel of beer.  In a 10 barrel batch of beer, that is a $ 200 increase!

Reason # 2

Since last year our malted barley has increased 40%.

Reason # 3

Everything else has increased in price.  Filter sheets, freight, chemicals, brewery supplies, etc.

Reason # 4

Caldera Brewing is a very small microbrewery and cannot rely on volume to make up the price increases.  Last year Caldera brewed 2211 barrels of beer.  This year Caldera is on pace to brew 2800 barrels of beer.  Some of the bigger craft breweries in Oregon brew over 200,000 barrels of beer in a single year.
